Our Transparent Accountable Government platform has made inroads in creating improved communications to residents in the past two years, including these achievements:
Developing and launching a monthly, bilingual newsletter to residents
Livestreaming our weekly BOT meetings for more accessibility
Streamlining communication platforms
Launching a website reskin
Hiring a new, part-time (and local!) Communications Director
We know there is more work ahead to reach residents and continue our commitment to keeping you empowered and informed. We believe operating in the light and encouraging public engagement is key to a stronger, more vibrant Village, and reject past opposition to simple solutions that make it easy to follow what’s happening in Village government.
Here are some of our ideas to continue down that path:
Explore options for multi-lingual translation at public meetings and enhance our capacity for consistent written communications in Spanish
Find closed captioning options for our streamed video content
Develop a consistent and clear social media strategy and identity as a Village, including utilizing more platforms
Create an outreach campaign to increase reach of our newsletter and social media platforms (we have a long way to go here!)
Enact a longer buffer for alerts that inform residents about public comment windows, and do our best to get them to you
Publish written summaries of our BOT meetings
We invite your input and will continue to research what technology and tools can improve our communications and better connect our Village. Our goal is simple: make it easier for every resident to understand, participate in, and trust their local government.
