Marjorie hsu

Marjorie has lived in Sleepy Hollow for over a decade and has been a hands-on, dedicated civic leader throughout. She has served as Chair of the Planning Board, driven an ambulance for the Sleepy Hollow Ambulance Corps, led media literacy workshops with the League of Women Voters, and helped create pollinator gardens across the village. She co-founded the Community Food Garden in Barnhart Park and was instrumental in helping the local school district become the first in Westchester to include Asian American history in its curriculum. Today, she serves as Vice Chair of The New York Community Trust – Westchester, Co-Chair of the Westchester County Asian American Advisory Board, and a member of the newly formed New York State AAPI Commission.

Marjorie Hsu is running for Mayor of Sleepy Hollow, driven by a deep commitment to public service and a strong belief in the power of local government to shape everyday life. From clean water and safe streets to vibrant green spaces and transparent communication, Marjorie believes the role of village leadership is to safeguard what makes our community so special—while planning thoughtfully for the future.

Professionally, Marjorie brings decades of leadership experience in the tech and telecom sectors, having served as an executive at Verizon, Chief Technology Officer at Singtel, and Chief Revenue Officer at a startup. She now advises early-stage companies and sits on several advisory boards focused on cyber-security, data science and Gen AI. Marjorie holds an MBA and BS in Electrical Engineering from Boston University.

Marjorie’s values are rooted in her own lived experience as the daughter of immigrants and a proud product of public schools. She embodies the American Dream, and she’s spent her life giving back—whether through nonprofit board service, mentoring young professionals, or helping shape policies that build stronger, more inclusive communities.

As Mayor, Marjorie will bring vision, integrity, and the kind of collaborative leadership that Sleepy Hollow deserves.

My slate and I will also enhance our downtown for residents and tourists alike to dine, shop, safely walk and cycle.  Whether you love or avoid tourists, our small businesses need stable tourism revenues to survive, and I’d rather they spend their money here than in neighboring Rivertowns. I love our entire Village and pledge to raise the quality of life in all our neighborhoods, communicate clearly and consistently, build bridges between our communities, and stabilize our budget for long-term sustainability.

I’ve done this many times before in my career as a telecom executive at Verizon, Chief Technology Officer at Singtel, and Chief Revenue Officer at The Experience Engine; I’m an electrical engineer with an MBA. I have turned struggling organizations into high-performing centers of excellence delivering quality for customers and employees while fixing operations and budgets for immediate and long-term success. I lead large teams to strategize, prioritize, plan, focus, and execute.

Locally, I have contributed to Sleepy Hollow as chair of the Planning Board, which helped transform EOH from a large patch of dirt to become hundreds of homes and the beautiful Riverwalk. I was a Sleepy Hollow Ambulance Corps driver and am a builder of pollinator and community food gardens. I was appointed by former County Executive George Latimer to chair the Westchester County Asian American Advisory Board. Together, we completed a community needs assessment report and worked with Sleepy Hollow Superintendent, Ray Sanchez, for our schools to be the first in Westchester to incorporate AAPI curriculum.

I come from a family of doers; volunteerism and paying it forward are in my DNA.  My parents sat on their local zoning board, the Human Rights Commission, and delivered Meals on Wheels.  My sons served as university student senator, on their condo board, and marched for their rights and allies. My husband was a Big Brother when we first met and now mentors science students at Sleepy Hollow HighSchool. I sit on early-stage tech boards, the Boston University Center for Computing and Data Science advisory board, where I was honored to be the 2025 convocation speaker, am Vice Chair of the NY Community Trust advisory board, and board member of SPEAK, a local non-profit that delivers culturally appropriate mental health care to AAPI students. I invest in people and places that inspire me, like Sleepy Hollow.

Please take a look at our website
SleepyHollowDems.com to read about how we’ll invest in Sleepy Hollow. This is the time to act locally; my slate and I have vision, differentiated experience, live in different neighborhoods, and have a track record of success across diverse fields. All of us, together, can move our Village forward.

My opposition are community-minded people who have contributed time to our Village boards as essentially volunteers.  Unfortunately, they are promising things that don’t align with my values, and lack a forward-thinking plan.  They want to de-fund our beloved Warner Library, and TaSH farmer’s market, while promising preferential treatment for the neighborhood they live in. It is impossible to lower taxes while selling voters a bridge, a new DPW, and East Parcel.  They are destabilizing our Village’s fiscal stability and autonomy by clinging onto an old platform that is risky, irrelevant, and irresponsible in this current volatile economy.

I am an immigrant who couldn’t speak English entering kindergarten and rose to the C-level suite in multinational corporations. I consistently overdeliver and will again as your next mayor of Sleepy Hollow. Please vote for me, and for Cory Krall, Jared Rodriguez, and Jairo Triguero for trustee.  We need aligned leadership to make Sleepy Hollow an even better home for everyone.

Signed,
Marjorie Hsu

I am Marjorie Hsu and I’m introducing myself as the best candidate for mayor of Sleepy Hollow.

My family has lived in many towns, states, and countries; Sleepy Hollow is a special place that is already punching above its weight, and as mayor, I can make our Village more wonderful. I’m running for mayor because I will help Sleepy Hollow deliver an affordable, higher quality of living for families, seniors, and young people.
