That’s not just a dream - it’s our achievable vision. Here is how we will make it happen:
Establish a Downtown Task Force to lead smart, inclusive growth of our business community and promote Sleepy Hollow as a year-round Rivertown destination.
Strengthen our partnership with the Sleepy Hollow & Tarrytown Chamber of Commerce to ensure our existing business owners are successful and to attract new ones.
Fill vacant storefronts with new restaurants and small businesses by incentivizing growth and prohibiting absentee landlords from treating our Village as a tax write-off.
Activate downtown streetscapes through the Arts & Placemaking Committee, collaborating with residents and Village staff to make downtown Sleepy Hollow more beautiful, safe, and fun.
Utilize the $4.5M New York Forward (NYF) grant to boost business interest in our Downtown.
Redesign and reconstruct Cortlandt Street to include new sidewalks, plantings, street safety improvements, and stormwater mitigation.
Reimagine Morse School Park (aka Plaza Nueva) to better serve school children and create a more unified meeting place for residents and visitors.
Restore the historic Strand Theatre as an anchor arts space that builds on Sleepy Hollow’s growing reputation as a creativity hub.
Solve the downtown parking crunch for residents and visitors by working with private lot owners and finding underutilized parcels and lots that can become public or resident parking.
Develop vacant lots with support and grants from NYS and Westchester County to create more affordable housing and fill storefront gaps along commercial streets.
We believe in a downtown that works for everyone - for residents, business owners, and visitors alike. With thoughtful investment, strong partnerships and community input we can turn this vision into a reality that benefits all of Sleepy Hollow.
